Civil>Crane>INSPECTION & MAINTENANCE

Crane Inspection : Because of its heavy duty usage, crane parts are subjected to high stresses each time the crane is used and even when staying at rest. Parts will inadvertently be worn, and damage will occur. Hence, inspections and maintenance of these parts must be done regularly. Inspections are primarily carried out to locate parts of the crane that are defective or worn out. When these are observed, effective measures must be taken to replace them. Ignoring these or covering them up will only increase the likelihood of failure of that part. Shoddy repair work is even more dangerous.

It is also important to have the crane inspected under the following circumstances:-
1. New cranes or just purchased cranes
2. Newly rented cranes
3. After major repair, overhaul, alterations or modifications that may effect the
capacity of the crane.
4. After major dismantling and reassembling operation.
5. Cranes left idle for more than six months.
6. Cranes that have been involved in an accident.
