Preparation for Crane set-up for lifting
1. Set on flat ground as near or as close as possible to the load. Caution:
a. Avoid soft grounds
b. Avoid setting-up on top of underground pipelines
c. Clear away from high tension wires
2. Pull out-riggers and secure with wood blocks for pads. Caution:
a. Avoid setting-up blocks over underground pipelines
b. Adjust all 4 out-riggers to level the Crane boom vertical upright.
3. In case near to maximum loads, make sure of the exact weight to be lifted. Its the duty of the Rigger and Crane Operator to be thoroughly familiar with the Crane's capacity chart and never exceed the safe working loads (SWL).
4. Pre-check Crane equipments, such as:
a. Boom
b. Boom wire lines
c. Whip wire line
d. Main wire line
e. Main load block and hook, free from damaged.
f. Hydraulic system, ensure no leakage.
g. Slings used the right slings for lifting.
5. When all are ready, make sure load is slung correctly, foreman will request Crane operator to float the load just clear above ground, to check all gear clear under load and give the Crane operator a chance to get the feel of it, and satisfy in handling the load.
6. Only one dedicated person will assigned as a Signal-man
a. Make sure all "signals" are given clearly and correctly.
b. Crane operator and Signal-man are always in clear vision between each other.
c. Signal-man must always in clear vision with the load condition to relay necessary signal to Crane operator.
Note: IN HANDLING LOADS, ALL SAFETY RULES SHALL BE FOLLOWED EXPLICITLY (CLEARLY). WORK SAFELY AT ALL TIMES
