Waterfall magic in New York City

ART – Water is cascading over four massive scaffolding constructions in New York City’s East River this summer, in a spectacular art exhibit that runs through Oct. 13.

The man-made waterfalls reach up to 37 metres high — which makes the tallest one almost as high as the Statue of Liberty — and will light up after dark.

If this sounds tempting, the Buckingham Hotel is offering guests a chance to beat the lineups by booking the Buckingham Waterfalls Package.

You’ll get advance tickets to see the artworks on a serene New York Water Taxi cruise, plus a night in a one-bedroom suite and special drinks at Harbour Lights on Pier 17 — the only restaurant in the city with a view of two of the four waterfalls.

The Buckingham is located in midtown Manhattan’s cultural district, across the street from Carnegie Hall. You’ll need to book the package before Oct. 15, 2008 for stays through Oct. 31, 2008. Rates for July and August bookings start at $377; September and October bookings start at $477.

For details about taxes and conditions, or to book, visit BuckinghamHotel.com or call 1-212-246-1500.
