The individual awards have been rolling in for Portuguese wing wizard Cristiano Ronaldo.
Since his 42 goal heroics last season, together with his Champions League and Premier League medals, he has been awarded the FIFPro World Player of the Year, Uefa Club Forward of the Year, Uefa Club Player of the Year, the European Golden Shoe, and is in contention for the Ballon d’Or.
His first half brace ensured Manchester United picked up a further three points in the domestic League last night, and increased his current season goal tally to five.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes the 23-year old is close to finding his best form, but come the end of the season he warned that he will be some way off the 42 he totalled last term.
“He is getting there,” Sir Alex is reported to have said. “It is unfortunate due to his ankle operation he is effectively coming through his pre-season in competitive games.
“He has five goals now and he got 42 last season. I would expect him to get between 25 and 42 this year,” the Scot concluded.
