Tonight, I received a message from my Yahoo Messenger from a blogger friend in the Philippines. He gave this link with a
picture of the smiling moon. I was intrigued by it so I immediately
clicked on it. The picture is very cute especially with the idea of the
moon really smiling. The picture by the way is courtesy of Itot taken
tonight in Batangas City, Philippines.
I was excited with the
picture so I immediately went out to check for the moon. I went to near
the bus stop, at the corridor and even near the MRT station. After
gazing north, south, east and west, I cannot find the moon literally. I
have decided to go back to the house and continue watching Gossip Girl
and Sex and The City.
Today, the 1st December 2008, there is the smiling moon on our sky. The phenomenon happened because the jupiter and the Venus are 2 degree from each other. Although these 2 planets are hundreds of million miles away from each other but the picture showing on the sky make us feel they are closed.
We could see the small smiling face in the sky. All people in the world gain happiness and hope, especially for Thais who are now facing the big crisis of politics and also economics.
I would like to write this article and show the picture above to let the Thais (also travellers and expats who are effected the crisis) gain a morale from the sky and always keep thinking that things are going to be better.
Peace will come, just after the smiling from the sky.
A quirky phenomenon smiled down on Western Australia last night as the moon aligned with Jupiter and Venus for the first time in five years.
The amazing alignment created a smiley face for those in the southern hemisphere, while in the United States it appeared as a frown. People in Europe and Africa missed out on the view due to the time of their sunsets.
Perth Observatory astronomer Ralph Martin said there were only a few hours where people were lucky enough to catch the amusing view.
“The positioning of Jupiter and Venus relative to the moon made it look like a smiley face,” Mr Martin said. “It’s supposed to happen every five years, but I’ve never seen one.
“It’s a bit of a laugh. I walked out on the balcony last night and looked up and saw this face smiling down at me.”
