Smart Wireless transmitters included in actuator package for Emergency Shutdown and Blowdown Valves on offshore platform in India
A way was needed to notify control room personnel when an Emergency Shutdown (ESD) or Blowdown Valve was activated on an unmanned platform.
The offshore platform is owned by a major oil company and located in the oilfields near Gujarat, India.
Designers wanted to minimize power consumption and the I/O count on the platform (two factors having a significant financial impact) while providing valve position feedback.
The Smart Wireless solution includes 16 Rosemount® 702 wireless discrete transmitters, 16 Bettis® pneumatic actuators, 16 TopWorx® D series limit switches, and one 1420 Smart Wireless gateway.
The assembly of the actuator packages is installed and tested by Emerson engineers on the offshore platform.
