It’s official. The infamous butt implant at the MTV Movie awards that featured close contact with Sasha Baron Cohen’s bouncing bare bottom and Eminem’s furiously flushed face was nothing more than a well-rehearsed prank.
In fact, even Eminem’s stormy, swearing exit was part of the show.
“I’m thrilled that we pulled this off better than we rehearsed it,” Eminem told RapRadar.com. “It had so many people going “nuts” so to speak. Everyone was blowing me up about it.”
Cohen, appearing in character as Bruno, a flamboyant and feather-draped Austrian fashion designer, fluttered from the ceiling in a wire harness, dropping head-first into Eminem’s lap. The high-wire mooning eclipsed what was widely predicted to be the awards show’s most resounding moment, the much-anticipated release of the Twilight New Moon trailer.
“After the ceremony I went back to my hotel and laughed uncontrollably for about 3 hours,” Eminem told RapRadar.com. “Especially after I saw it on air.”
It turns out that Eminem is a great admirer of Cohen, and is no stranger to, uh, over the top performances.
“Sacha called me when we were in Europe and he had an idea to do something outrageous at the Movie Awards,” Eminem said. “I’m a big fan of his work so I agreed to get involved with the gag.”
