RUMOUR has it social princess and one-time “it” girl Paris Hilton is heading Down Under for New Year’s Eve … again.
Following her appearance this time last year – which included being pelted with sand at Bondi, endless lunches, a mandatory hospital visit and smoking inside the Piano Room party she was paid a rumoured $400,000 to attend – apparently the over-exposed heiress has plans to “holiday” here again.
Checking up on her marketability yesterday, Confidential called appearance fee queen, celebrity publicist Amanda Archer, who four years ago secured a whopping $100,000 deal for Hilton to say a one-sentence line in a TV ad for a weekly gossip magazine.
Archer now questions Hilton’s current worth in the Australian market.
“It will be interesting to see if anyone is interested in her because I don’t think they would be,” she said. “Paris would need to reinvent herself in order to get people interested again and therefore get a higher paid appearance.”

The celeb appearance fee industry is in decline, with nightclubs, bars and labels questioning the return they get for paying a high profile to drink champagne and walk laps (well, Hilton sat down all night besides a short-lived stage dance following numerous trips to the bathroom) around their event.
Talk that Hollywood wild child Lindsay Lohan will accompany on-again off-again girlfriend Sam Ronson this year seems highly unlike, considering Ronson’s sponsor, the SYD.NYE09 event on the Opera House western boardwalk, would also have to fork out big bucks for the appearance.
