Sandra Bullock best actress at the Golden Globe Awards

Sandra Bullock and umbrella-toting husband Jesse James arrive at the Golden Globe Awards.

Actor Quinton Aaron said Sandra Bullock helped him grow as an actor for the movie “The Blind Side”. And he was thrilled she won best actress at the Golden Globe Awards Sunday.

“I love that lady with all my heart,” Aaron said Monday afternoon. “And I’m so proud of her.”

The movie, starring Bullock and Aaron, was based on the 2006 book “The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game” by Michael Lewis. It told the story of the football player Michael Oher, who went from a poor upbringing to college and then to the NFL.

Bullock, who played the matriarch of a family that takes in the teenage Oher after discovering he was homeless, cited Oher in her acceptance speech.

“If I may steal from Michael Oher,” she said, “I may not be the most talented, but I’ve been given opportunity.”

The movie hit $227 million domestically this week, marking the first time a movie marketed with a leading actress has crossed the $200 million mark. And it also became the highest grossing football movie ever.

Oher, who now plays for the Baltimore Ravens, had little reaction Monday to Bullock’s victory, telling the Baltimore Sun: “I didn’t see [the Golden Globes show]. Somebody told me.”

For Aaron, you might be surprised where he heard the news.

“When I found out, I was in the shower and my people started screaming, ‘Yeah! Go Sandra!’”Aaron said. “I started yelling as well, forgetting I was in the shower, and almost fell.”
