Well the second week of Danica Patrick’s NASCAR debut ended abruptly with a destroyed race car. The race started off badly for Patrick when she narrowly avoided a crash and was shuffled to the back of the pack. Danica ran outside of the top 30 for a while before making it back into the 20’s. Patrick got caught up in a 12 car accident and her car was mangled. Danica remained optimistic though when she said, “It’s important to have realistic expectations. There’s going to be spikes in performance, I don’t doubt that. But there’s also going to be tough days. And today, I would say, was more of a tough day.” Even with the disappointment of a crash, Danica Patrick is bringing a renewed interest in NASCAR as she was horded by fans before and after the race. Dale Earnhardt Jr., who owns the car Patrick is racing had a very bad day as he crashed also. So now team JR Motorsports is left trying to build 2 new race cars. Danica Patrick is very good for NASCAR as she seems to be adding to the fan base quite considerably
