Panasonic VIERA introduces its first 3D HD plasma TV

Panasonic Malaysia has announced its new line-up in the VIERA series of plasma, LCD and LED LCD TVs for 2010, including VIERA’S very first 3D HD plasma TV!

Classified as the ‘VT Series’ under VIERA’S collection of plasma TV, the 3D TV comes in two models – the TH-P65VT20K and TH-P50VT520K – in screen sizes ranging from 50 to 65 inches with a full 1080p resolution to both the right and left eye, thereby giving the viewer the ultimate 3D entertainment experience. Using frame sequential technology to offer high image quality functions guaranteed to excite entertainment seekers and avid film fans alike, all you’ll need to take full advantage of this is a Blu-ray 3D disc, Blu-ray Disc player and a pair of 3D glasses (which will be provided with purchase) to experience the life-like footage only 3D TV can offer.

In addition to providing 3D viewing, the VT series also features the enhanced VIERA CAST service with Wireless LAN Adaptor ready on its USB port, video call capability, SD Link to view JPEG digital still images and AVCHD video recorded on an SD Memory Card; VIERA Link, a PC input, two USB Ports, THX certification, 24p cinematic playback, 600Hz Sub-field Drive (produces 1080 TV lines of moving picture resolution), and an Infinite Black Pro display with 5,000,000:1 native contrast.

In addition, these TVs feature new phosphor science that allows the TV to switch quicker, providing a smooth 3D image. As with all the Panasonic Plasma TVs, the Full HD 3D models have a panel life of up to 100,000 hours, and are also mercury and lead free.

As for the other models in the VIERA range, the plasma, LCD and LED LCD TV models have evolved further in technology, picture quality, efficiency and performance, allowing you to share more with your loved ones with its internet content and home networking capabilities for a whole new standard in TV-viewing enjoyment.

While the non-3D versions will be available for sale in April, unfortunately you’re going to have to wait a little longer before you can bring 3D into your home, as the VIERA VT Series will only be available for sale to the mass market later this year in August (there’s no recommended retail price at the moment nor any indication that local TV stations will 3D ready, sorry guys!).

In the meantime, you can experience for yourself what the all-new 3D HD TV has to offer, and also check out the other models in the VIERA line. A 3D HD coach dubbed Home Cinema Tour 2010 will be parked outside the main entrance of Sunway Pyramid Shopping Centre from now until this Sunday (March 25 – 28), from 10am to 10pm – and it’s free for anyone to come on board!

The 3D HD 20-seater coach is equipped with a 50-inch 3D HD TV, along with four units of the newest VIERA plasma, LCD and LED LCD TVs ranging from 32- to 42-inch screens. While you’re there you can also hop on to the other four Panasonic mobile caravans: Mottainai inverter technology, Health & Beauty, Mobile Beauty Station and Evolta Roving Team.

These caravans (excluding the Evolta Roving Team) will be part of the Panasonic roadshow that will travel to destinations across Peninsular Malaysia beginning 10 May to 11 January next year. Destinations have yet to be announced, so stay tuned!
