ELECTRIC MOTOR ACTUATORS
The following additional requirements are applicable for electric
motor actuated valves Electric motor actuators shall be supplied
complete with motor, gear box and handwheel for emergency open/close.
Illuminated position indication shall be provided. An integral control
unit shall be supplied complete with motor starter and control gear,
selector switch for local-off-remote and a spring return (to stop)
rotary knob switch for open/stop/close. This switch shall also provide
an emergency stop push button function. Space heaters for 110v and 24v
DC interposing relays
shall be provided. They shall have class F insulation with class B
temperature rise and shall be provided with adjustable torque switches
to limit over travel. Embedded thermostats shall be provided to prevent
motor burn out. All electrical equipment shall be certified as suitable
for use in a Zone 1 hazardous area and shall be suitable for gas group
IIA, temperature class T3 with a minimum degree of protection of IP-65
in accordance with IEC-529. Electrical power supply shall be as
specified in the purchase requisition. All electrical equipment shall be
installed in a metal enclosure. The metal enclosure including electrical
components shall be designed to be suitable for use in the environmental
conditions specified in the purchase requisition.
The control system of MOVs shall be designed in accordance with
following requirements: All MOV's shall be opened, stopped and closed by
an intergral local control rotary knob switch with lockable
remote-off-locale switch, it shall be possible to remotely open, stop
and close the
valve and to monitor the position of travel. Cable entry shall be via
20mm ISO metric threaded connections.
PRESSURE VESSELS
Hydraulic accumulators and pneumatic volume bottles shall meet the
requirements for vessels to BS5500 or to ASME Vlll Division 1 .Seller
may propose vessels to BS EN 286 for vessels in air or Nitrogen service.
PAINTING AND COATING
Painting and Coating of all non stainless or plastic external surfaces
of the valves, actuator and pneumatic/hydraulic systems shall be in
accordance as applicable for offshore/onshore facilities.
For non standard applications such as shutdown valves located within the
splash zone area offshore, painting and coating requirements shall be as
stated in the purchase requisition. Where guidance is required regarding
the painting/coating application this shall be referred to the focal
point of this specification.
FUNCTIONAL TESTING
When specified in the purchase requisition, the complete ABV assemblies
shall be subjected to a functional Fctory Acceptance Test at the Sellers
premises. This test shall be considered only as an acceptance that
the valves are fit to be shipped and not as an unqualified acceptance of
the order. Seller shall provide all personnel and all other services to
enable the FAT to be carried out. The ABV's shall be subjected to a
visual check to verify quality of workmanship and general conformance
with all requirements of the purchase requisition. All associated
documentation and certification shall be reviewed for completeness.
The ABV shall be subjected to a 10 stroke test with the full cold rated
differential pressure applied across the valve, against each seat
alternately and with the pneumatic/hydraulic supply pressure
at its specified minimum acceptable value. During the test the following
shall be confirmed:
(a) The satisfactory functioning of all valve/actuator components and
ancillaries.
(b) Time to open and close the valve and, where applicable, to recharge
hydraulic or
pneumatic accumulators to their specified operating pressure.
(c) Hydraulic/Pneumatic pressure at which the valve begins te revert to
its fail position.
(d) Integrity of all joints.
(e) No visible distortion of any actuator, mounting adaptor or valve
component during
actuation.
(f) Satisfactory functioning of remote shutdown by simulated ESD trip.
Seller shall submit his proposed test procedures to Company for approval
at least one month before the scheduled test date. Seller proposed test
procedures shall be submitted to the Company for approval prior to
commencing testing.
