SHUTDOWN VALVES

Design shall be in accordance with API Standard 6D for pipeline shutdown valves and to API 6D or BS 5351 for non pipeline shutdown valves as specified in the requisition. All pipeline shutdown valves shall be full bore, the Inside Diameter shall be as stated in the requisition. Valves specified to BS 5351 are acceptable in the following sizes.

Valves specified to API 6D shall be in accordance with MESC SPE 77/130. Valves specified to BS 5351 shall be in accordance with MESC SPE 77/100 All welded body valves shall meet the requirements of MESC SPE 77/130. End flange dimensions shall be in accordance with ANSI/ASME B16.5 for sizes up to and including DN 600 and in accordance with MSS-SP-44 for sizes above DN 600. All SDV's in ratings of ANS class 300 and above, shall be fitted with sealant injection facilities to seats and stem seal.
Body construction may be split body with flanged ends or all welded body as specified on the requisition. Split body design shall be utilised in sizes of DN 600 ANSI class 900 and below to facilitate shop maintenance. Top entry valves shall not be specified as in-situ maintenance is not a requirement. Top entry valves may, however, be accepted should they be offered and are commercially attractive. All valves shall be flanged end type.

Flange face to face dimensions for flanged end valves shall be In accordance with API 6D for valve sizes of DN 600 and below unless otherwise specified. For valve sizes greater than DN 600 the face to face dimensions shall be agreed between the Purchaser and the Seller.
Surface finish for all end flanges specified as raised face in the purchase requisition shall be smooth finish in accordance with MESC SPE-77/301.
ABV's weighing over 500 kg shall be provided with lifting points whose design and position shall be approved by the Company.
Both metal and soft seated valves shall be to a fire-tested design. Copies of applicable certification shall be provided with the bid for the valves. Refer to MESC SPE 77/100 or 77/130 for the appropriate requirements.
For valves DN 450 and above, Seller shall clearly state in his proposal the maximum allowable bending moment which may be applied to the valve body.

MATERIALS
Preferred materials of construction for the valve components shall be as indicated in the requisition. Materials of construction of the valve and accessories and, where applicable painting and coating systems, shall be suitable for long term exposure to a marine type environment. All
valve materials in contact with the service fluid shall conform to NACE MR.01.75. Material acceptance shall be in accordance with MESC SPE 77/302. The materials of construction for all components of the valve shall be clearly listed in the proposal. Certification of materials shall be in accordance with MESC SPE 77/304 or 7/305 as applicable.
 

TESTlNG AND INSPECTION
Inspection/testing and certification of valves in general service, shall be in accordance with MESC SPE 77/304. For valves in special service these requirements shall be in accordance with MESC SPE 77/305.
For valves specified to API 6D additional testing and inspection shall be performed in accordance with MESC SPE 77/ 30 prior to shipment.
For valves specified to BS 5351 additional testing and inspection shall be as specified in MESC SPE 77/100.
The Company reserves the right to inspect the valves at any time during their manufacture, testing and preparation for shipment. The requirements for Company or third party inspection shall be as stated in the requisition.
The valve Seller shall submit a Quality Plan with his bid. When specified in the requisition, the valve shall be subjected to a torque test in accordance with MESC SPE 77/130
